The Civil Engineering major is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET. This lab also provides the leadership skills, motivation, and technical competence needed to be future leaders in the Air Force. We immerse our cadets in challenging, yet rewarding courses that are complemented by hands-on experiences in surveying, construction methods, and construction materials at the Field Engineering and Readiness Laboratory (FERL). They use state-of-the-art computer methods in design, construction, project scheduling and cost control.Īs you develop your skills, you can move into engineering management, oversee the completion of entire projects, and work closely with architects, owners, contractors, government officials, and others involved in all aspects of construction. Within these areas, you’ll perform tasks like technical design, project planning and programming, and possibly managing the maintenance workforce of civilian and military personnel.Ĭivil engineers are problem solvers, meeting the challenges of pollution, deteriorating infrastructure, traffic congestion, energy needs, floods, earthquakes, sustainable development, and community planning. As an Air Force civil engineering officer you might find yourself responsible for the sustainable construction and maintenance of facilities mechanical, electrical, and waste disposal systems hazardous waste management runways and roads.
